GIS

I have always had a love for maps. As a child, literature such as the Lord of The Rings by J.R.R Tolkien and Treasure Island by Robert Lewis Stevenson played a big role in my interest. As I got older, I started to use them in practical ways when camping in the Cascades or exploring cities such as Chicago, Illinois and Sydney, Australia. I began to realize how important maps are in shaping our reality and understanding of the world around us. The reason I decided to pursue GIS was twofold. First, it's challenging yet surprisingly fun. More importantly, though it is a tool that can visually express issues and topics that would be hard to do otherwise. As an urban planner, I believe maps can play a powerful role in guiding planning decisions and highlight prominent issues facing communities such as social/environmental justice and hazards/risk reduction to name a few. As such, I felt that GIS was an important field to specialize in. These images consist of my proudest mapping projects created using ArcGIS Pro.
